National Sales Manager – Group & Voluntary Benefits

Summary:

The National Sales Manager is a leadership role with oversight for all distribution resources and results. An effective national sales and distribution leader is charged with leading a team of sales and distribution staff in the pursuit of annual team goals involving revenue, sales, persistency, and earnings. This role is responsible for establishing broker/consultant assignments and determining geographic territory assignments and processes for the sales and service teams. Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and implementing an enrollment and communications strategy that develops the appropriate level of employee knowledge and engagement, resulting in marketing leading participation rates.

Minimum Qualifications and Abilities: 
• Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field
• Minimum of 10 years with employer group and voluntary sales insurance leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to create and collaborate to develop long-term strategic outcomes
• Specific sales and leadership experience in the group market segment and demonstrated knowledge of, and relationships with, target regional and national producer firms and alternative distribution channels, such as producing third-party administration and enrollment companies
• Insurance Licensed
• Excellent presentation/public speaking skills
• Superior verbal and written communication skills

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Select, hire, counsel/coach, train, motivate, and develop new and current sales, support, and enrollment team leaders/ members • Oversight and accountability of sales and service results, ensuring teams meet all national and regional level goals
• Strong understanding and communication of sales process and metrics, leading indicators, and insights that surround the distribution performance. Provide reports as required on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis
• Provide constant market intelligence regarding national and local market activity. This would include information on all aspects of competitors, customer wants and needs and emerging industry/segment trends
• Personally establish and develop relationships and an ongoing business development strategy with target Market National Producer firms and distribution channels including producing third party administrators and enrollment firms, developing interest in all of company group and voluntary product lines
• Develop close and collaborative relationships with client management and operations leaders to define and execute sales and service strategies
• Provide timely performance reviews for all sales, support, and service team members
• Work very closely with the group and voluntary products owner to define and develop the long-term strategy and agenda. Garner and direct distribution resources to execute accordingly
• Develop, execute, and monitor a National Sales and Service business plan consistent with the overall strategy and objectives for revenue, sales, persistency, and earnings
• Communicate the sales plan across, up and down the organization to those who play a role in execution of the plan
• Sound development of internal and external relationships resulting in excellent work outcomes
• Represent company in a positive and professional manner
• Other duties as assigned
